A True Man Is Meaningful And One With Life

A True Man Is Meaningful And One With Life

I look up at the night sky and wonder at civilisation,

I contemplate the moon,

And wonder at the lunar cycle,

For perhaps beyond space and time,

Love exists without conditions.

Does the moon rotate because it is mechanical?

Or does it provide gravity in harmony with life,

For those who live mechanical lives know nothing of harmony,

For oneness with life is the true meaning of love.

I look around and I see division and wonder at compassion,

For those who separate and divide know nothing of unity,

To share power is to realise we are one family,

And what you do to another you do to yourself,

Yet still we languish in selfishness.

I close my eyes and sigh,

I wonder why we cannot give more than we take,

Why we cannot talk to understand more than to be silent and withdrawn,

For to close down is a closed heart,

To give unconditionally is the open heart,

One approach takes life,

The other gives life,

For the true life

Is always open to diversity as unity.

Sometimes I am saddened,

Sometimes I feel despair,

For the soul of this world is under repair,

And many live in unconsciousness,

Many do not question their beliefs,

They do not give relief when they see suffering,

They turn away as if non-existent and weak,

And this is different from turning the other cheek,

For one direction is denial by default,

The other is to allow reality as the only sanity,

That accords no fault to anyone,

For when you honour all life,

There is no negative intent,

Only to be content with what is so,

To allow all to know,

The truth is the life as the way,

And this is to say depth when all is shallow,

For true meaning means what is said

and says what he means,

Never silencing words that need not be concealed,

For this is what defines the man that is real

from he who is mean,

And I await to awaken from this dream,

Freed from the confusion to know the difference.

Mohandas Gandhi

“The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.”
