Love is the Smiling Face of Eternity
THE SMILING FACE OF ETERNITY
What is love?
For some it is a game of cat and mouse,
They love the game,
For others it is the moment of truth,
They see the truth in the game,
For me it is not a game,
It is who I truly am,
When I step away from the fear
of separation.
I spent my life giving,
I chose to live by example,
I call it experiencing unity in diversity,
Some live their lives taking,
And call it self-aggrandisement,
I call it lack and insecurity.
Yet life is the alpha and the omega,
Giving is the true wealth of nations,
It is the abundance of the wishing well,
Where I ask a penny for your thoughts,
For all wishes can come true,
When you see yourself as the other,
For what you do to another returns to self,
Some call it Karma.
For many love is a romantic ideal,
It is the notion of being special,
A sacred seal or bond,
Feeling valued, belonging, partnership and social acceptance,
Are the banners of being loved,
To no-longer face life
home alone.
For me only love is real,
It never conceals its true face,
It always reveals its hand,
As truth is visible and vulnerable,
Love and truth are true bed fellows,
Moving beyond games of power and control,
As virtues are the genuine articles
of faith.
I have walked alone and given to all,
I have followed faithfully the call,
I have cried in the valley,
I have climbed magnificent mountain tops,
I have cultivated a higher perspective
so I can see the good, the holy and the beautiful,
To return to the shrine of remembrance,
To know the peak experience of life living,
Is learning to live my own life,
For how can I honour ‘to thine own self be true’?
If I don’t know who I am?
Sometimes I wonder if I will meet my reflection of love
in the pond of endless dreams?
Where a twin heart will appear as a vision
out of the noise and confusion?
Another for whom the bell tolls?
Another who has stepped away from superficial roles?
Who sees through the deception and conceit,
Who believes love is the answer without question,
Who places love on his sleeve
and bravely petitions his heart,
For only fools fall in love,
With love itself,
And this is the truth that sets all free to see,
Love never ends,
It is the smiling peaceful face
of eternity.
