Australian Politics is No Merry-Go-Round

I think Australians want to get off the merry-go-round where most don’t find it funny nor merry.

Yes indeed, nothing changes, it is just changing faces but the reality for most people is really that life is getting more expensive and they are working harder.  The true reality, in my view is we are all out of touch with reality. We have created a business/industrial juggernaut that is unsustainable environmentally. If all countries live like we do (generated by credit) we will need another 3.5 earths to sustain human demand. Moreover, we are not happier as a result of this manufactured material wealth. The truth wealth of any nation resides in the true happiness of people, the Bhutanese have given us a hint with Gross National Happiness. When they live and work with happiness in heart and mind you can say good bye to competition, exploitation, violence, war, environmental destruction and social dysfunction. It is actually love that makes the world go round and round. That will never be mentioned by politicians or business people, as they view the real world as the stock exchange and in profits. The underlying belief is that fear needs to drive this dissatisfaction. If everyone is happier and self reliant they naturally don’t need much to feel satisfied.

I suspect it is not only Australian politics that has people switching off, it is a universal industrial dis-ease world-wide. Although I have to say if the pollies were like the film clip, perhaps I really could be the very first clown in parliament.  Yet sadly, it is no circus. Sob! I think this is a protest from the Canberra Press gallery.

Can we please try a real democracy… please… That is all I am saying as I have switched off. I will switch on again when people get real and at the very least, a sense of humour.
