Professor Ken Robinson on the Possibility of Creativity as Education

Professor Ken Robinson introduces the idea of creativity as a valued part of any function or profession. Creativity is important in expansion of possibilities. In truth Creativity is the highest form of intelligence.

Professor Robinson is asked why people think creativity and intelligence are two different things? This is a powerful question and one I have noticed throughout my career. As a peace clown people couldn’t get their head around the fact that I am a peace educator and clown. They could only see the clown as entertainment, they were not able to see the humour, the quick witted interactions, the bonding in the classroom, the creativity in conveying ideas and engagement. So for myself it has been very hard to have my work supported, even though it was effective in the classroom. I was amazed to see kids dress up as clowns and come to school, some even started anti-bullying campaigns as they felt inspired. I knew I had found something wonderful and it was developed from inspiration not just sitting down and thinking but it was feeling intellgience (intuitive). That I felt for what they need to learn in order to liberate their own thinking and feeling. I am glad I had the courage to try given I am not a trained teacher.

Here is a video to explore this fascinating subject and could be a future possibility for schools opening possibilities to problem solving in a world that has definitely lost its way.

“If we are to teach real peace in this world, and if we are to carry on a real war against war, we shall have to begin with the children.”
