This poem was written for a man I loved a long time who never responded verbally to me in any words I would regard as kind. He walked past me and looked at me so many times to keep my interest. He did kiss me once and showed interest in non verbal ways. He never intended to take it any further but never told me the truth of his feelings and why he remained silent, it appeared he was playing a game soley for his own purposes, my feelings were not regarded and it appeared there was no empathy. For a long time I asked for the truth and received silence. I found the mixed messages deeply painful and expressed this, but again received silence. This experience took me to the edges of my life many times as I experienced pain I’d never known. I sought to stop the pain by communicating and seeking resolution. I felt it was important that I received closure so I could move on and love someone else. If that didn’t happen I was afraid I would carry such a deep wound. However, it was never to be.
I’ve never understood the cruelty of people as my attitude has always been if a person is suffering to reach out to them. So many these days are numb to the pain of others or closed down emotionally. I would say to people find your heart, shake up your energy, speak up and speak the truth kindly and lastly, don’t cut people off seek to build unity in this world. I have learned the strength in love, to remain truthful to your own feelings without turning to hatred or pay back. I don’t believe in revenge, I only believe in trusting the truth and following your heart. I have been through a great deal in my life but I find my love is expanding. This is a good sign.
The world is on the precipice of great change, love and compassion is the pathway to happiness. If you have repressed fears, I suggest now is a good time to learn to face your fear, to open your heart, to speak your truth. You will find a new world opens up, filled with possibilities. Never get bitter or afraid of love, love the world openly without fear, and you will be amazed at how your own love turns inward.
I send this to all those who have opened their heart fully to find the other doesn’t reciprocate. Use the loving energy to find wisdom, you will find life expands in ways that are incredible. So keep on keep on, love until it hurts but don’t expect anyone to love you back. We are not here for the greed of need but the expansion of love, and that has nothing to do with anyone else. Unconditional love changes the world and leads to wisdom.
A STORY OF LOVE
The language of love is unspoken,
Rudolph Valentino played on a silent screen,
A sexual symbol to women,
Falling in love with an image of love,
Is the subject of the valentine,
Yet true love is never known,
When one is acting.
For many Valentine’s Day signifies love,
Roses the symbol of love,
For the mystique inspired romance of Venus and Aphrodite,
For the art of love
Is to give not receive,
To celebrate not ritualise,
As love is eternal and never forgotten,
Roses are not arranged but composed every day,
As every day is a precious gift remembered,
When love is the miracle I see in your eyes.
In-to-me-see is the flower that opens fully,
For there is nothing to conceal,
Only the light of truth heals,
Trust is the aroma that senses vulnerability,
Honesty is crystal clear reflection,
That sees both the pleasure and the pain,
For love embraces dearly the dark in the light,
An unconditional meditation that reveals perfection in imperfection.
Love is the answer,
As there is no question,
For it is known,
Unmistakably,
As one can be held prisoner,
Or dancing in infinite freedom,
As if the rhythm of love has its own song.
Love has no willpower,
For she gives in,
She gives up,
As she is taken downstream to the rapids,
She must navigate each rock but she is unable to fight the current state of play,
She has no choice but to stay afloat and not drown,
As the water falls,
She must believe in the impossible,
That love is the life boat,
That rescues her flailing heart.
Yet he watches her from the safety of the shore,
He walks back and forth,
For indecision darkens his thoughts,
He is afraid to risk all to save her,
Yet he doesn’t want her to sink,
Paralysed he remains silent and despairing,
For he doesn’t know what to do,
Their eyes meet and all is known,
Yet can never be spoken,
For the sound of her rapids rises above his silent spring,
For turbulence is the war of conflict within,
Yet life is the flow that meanders,
As life is the natural impulse unimpeded,
To go with the flow is the music that brings the rhythm,
For love is not either or,
It cannot be calculated for advantage as power,
Love is not safe or secure,
Love is the edge of the cliff that appears crazy,
Yet as he steps off,
The magic of life makes visible the impossible,
And the Everest of fear is conquered,
By love.
So my love,
To be or not to be,
Matters not to me,
For I stepped off the cliff,
I trust love with all my heart,
I allow myself to be exposed and vulnerable,
I return when I should leave,
I speak up when I should remain silent,
For I do not fear the rock of pain,
I just must endure the current until it loses its strength,
This feels like a river of a thousand waves,
Yet the pool of my reflection is clear,
For love accepts the good, the bad and the indifferent,
If it is true it is unconditional no matter the hardship,
For friendship is the love I softly offer,
Understanding is the bouquet of silence,
Forgiveness is the candle of hope,
That shines silently for you,
As I sleep to awaken to eternal love,
For I am the rose that truly loves you.
