Peace Reaches the Summit of Change Re-Membering Humanity

This poem is dedicated to those who are in pain, those who feel they have no voice and are quietly alone in a difficult time. Those who feel humanity has abandoned them. I am with you.  I love you and you are equal to all without exception. Take your power back, take your dignity back but do it in a way that loves without condition. That is the true power in humanity. Never weaken to hate. Never give up, let creativity guide you. Karma is active in the world and those who use and abuse others will experience natural justice, however it is never in the spirit of retribution it is education, they will learn from their mistakes. What goes around comes around definitely. Life has a way of re-balancing as natural homeostasis even in human populations. Nature is who you are. Know your true nature and it sets you free.

Always know your life has infinite value.  Peace is the highest summit for change.

Peace Reaches the
Summit of Change Re-membering Humanity

There comes a time in our lives,

Where our humanity is called upon,

To respond.

Crisis leads one to the levy
from which a critical choice must be made,

To either sink or swim,

For pain and hope are uneasy bedfellows.

For when someone is drowning can you extend

a caring hand,

Or allow the other to sink into the quagmire

of deafening silence.

When stuck in the powerlessness of paralysis,

The call for help goes out in many ways,

Others will cry out for peace, help or a friend,

Or self medicate with anti-depressants or soothing drugs,

Some will attract the cancer of dis-ease,

Another will pray for divine intervention,

Or a speedy end as they no longer are able to bare the pain

of one more day,

Surrendering to beyond blue.

Justice does not reside in the decision of a judge,

Nor is it to seek retribution,

Or demand another to pay,

It is to sit in the impartiality of stillness as a Zen monk,

To know the fairness of a Lincoln equilateral commission,

Where all sides can be opposite yet remain steadfastly equal,

For the strength of sacred geometry is inherent in the symmetry of equality,

Non-judgement searches within for the wise Counsel in empathy,

For nothing is unacceptable or indefensible in life’s prism,

Unlocking the doors to all prisons,

Is to live in the truth of virtue

healing all schisms,

To confide in the pure heart
reveals all inequality,

Dissolves all the negativity,

Of division.

For when we take sides,

Disproportionality skews the bell curve,

Unable to rebalance what is optimum,

Emotional detachment turns away from crisis,

As silence conveys the disinterest in indifference,

Yet it is in difference that we learn from natural selection,

It is in diversity that we navigate our true direction,

For all roads eventually lead to Rome,

As the Coliseum of inquisition becomes the Agora of wisdom,

To find the meaning becomes the purpose,

And challenges are the mirror not the mask,

Of self reflection.

I have collapsed in the valley of despair,

I have soared to the greatest heights of inspiration,

For I am unafraid of feeling my humanity in all its diversity,

And I will always stand for what is bold and true,

As I hold the scales of justice as a meditation:

Blind to prejudice,

Deaf to the voices of derision,

Speaking with fairness and respect

As I would have done to me,

For I have climbed my Mount Everest,

To discover there is room for many views,

Stumbling on many rocks with great strain,

I found through the pain I could overcome obstacles,

I can reach for greater heights,

To succeed is to never weaken to fight,

For I have reached the summit of real change.

For at this World summit I pledge:

To sit at the round table where there is no head,

To live the justice of non-judgement that I seek,

To speak up in equality no matter the conditions,

To look for the light in the blizzard of petitions,

To value my life despite the silence of isolation,

To help those who have fallen to stand up,

To leave no-one behind in the futility of apathy,

To have the courage to cry and laugh,

To remember the humility in vulnerability,

To stand alone at the summit,

To look back at the path less travelled,

Remembering my transformational life,

Was for the highest good of all.

For nothing worth living for came without hardship,

The Philosopher’s Stone is the only stone left standing,

A standing stone reforming all the hard edges,

A gateway to a renewable stairway to heaven,

A fool’s spiral circle is the labyrinth not the maze,

Where the ending emerges a new beginnings,

An endless Ouroboros denoting the sacred and the profane,

Tensions returning us home to where the heart is,

To realise peace is the only summit of change,

That re-members our shared humanity.

Mohandas Gandhi

“Gentleness, self-sacrifice and generosity are the exclusive possession of no one race or religion.”
