Australian Mossad Operative Jailed for Espionage, Why?
A human rights person stated the following:
“Sunlight is the best disinfectant”
Indeed it is, a true statement in respect of secrecy and hiding crimes.
Which is the greater crime what appears to be an innocent failure exposing an Israeli operation or the cruelty of incarceration of a person whose intent was to serve what he felt was his people.
Ben Zygier was an Australian Mossad agent from Melbourne.
2007 Israel was at war with Lebanon. Israel sought to find 3 Israeli men’s bodies.
According to ABC Foreign Correspondent Ben was an Australian Mossad agent who desperately wanted to impress Mossad. In Lebanon he turned in the name of a double agent which exposed the Israeli operation to exhume bodies.
It is reported that Ben sought to serve his country, which was not Australia. He identified as an Israeli.
Surveillance is shown in the cells, highly intrusive. Imagine how a person feels being watched 24/7 no privacy at all.
Imagine how Ben felt when he thought he was helping Israel to discover he was charged with espionage. He was locked up in isolation and suffered extreme psychological abuse which is experienced worse than torture. It is crazy making and incredibly disempowering. A person feels they no longer exist as their reference points dissolve into the monotony of life with no stimulation.
My heart goes out to anyone who get’s caught up in games without frontiers wars without tears. Mental health issues arise when you are treated like you do not exist. I just felt these words as the narrative of Israel itself as justification for its war.
Suppression is the key issue with mental health and how it slowly destroys a person. He carried a secret which he had to communicate about. He was not allowed.
The prison guard said it all.
He should have been sent back to Australia, alive. His family would have suffered terribly. I send love to all those who get caught up or radicalised by others who encourage them to join a cause to find that it is not what they thought.
May young people find their way to engage in pursuits that serve them where they can live out their highest potential as people. May they not get caught up in other people’s wars but focus on peace. For that is the real service to any nation.
A last point, I had no idea I would produce a few blogs on Israel, I was guided to this as when you let go of control and allow life to guide you, it is interesting to see where it takes you. I feel grateful for the opportunity to learn. I love all people and my deepest desire is for all to find their way out of darkness. The light is indeed the disinfectant, for all hatred is a wound, unhealed.
