Can You Learn to Be Joyful Despite Abuse and Neglect?

A dear friend of mine was invited to an interview to talk about her life and the fact she is a joy-ologist.   This friend of mine is authentic.  I have never met anyone like her.  She has chronic pain, had a difficult early life, was demonised by foster families, has had pretty much any abuse you can imagine.  Yet she is one of the kindest people I have ever known.  We have walked on the street giving out goodie bags to homeless people.  She runs laughter workshops to get the stress out and does this for free.  I’ve sat with her many times having coffee and she puts on a clown nose spontaneously for the fun of it.  I see her as the female Patch Adams.  She will give you anything, listen for long periods and give lots of support.  She has had a very difficult life and chose to be the opposite.  She chose to heal herself and with courage she faces all challenges.  The interview doesn’t really reveal the greatness of this woman and how really funny she is.  I’ve known her for 8 years and she has faced every challenge with strength, courage and positivity.
