Patch Adams Comments on Robin Williams
Below is what Patch said about Robin who Portrayed him in the movie, Patch Adams. I knew Patch would be sad as he would have spent so much time. It is such an irony, Patch was depressed and spent time in a mental institution but made the decision to be a clown. Robin is also a natural clown but I sense he felt the pressure of always being on. Patch as a clown was quite laid back and didn’t play the clown all the time. He would just come in with his hair in a pony tail across his face. Robin epitomises the depression crisis where emotional suppression is happening on a large scale. I hope this will come under the spotlight.
He was wonderful to bring such joy into the world. For those of us who want to see a joy filled world, it is sad to lose such a great and passionate man. I wish to encourage people to be the change, to keep smiling, to keep spreading love and joy, to help those who feel depressed to really look at the emotions they have suppressed and the pain they have pushed aside, we have to be really honest and face ourselves and most importantly, love ourselves.
Patch’s words:
I’m enormously grateful for his wonderful performance of my early life which has allowed Gesundheit to continue and expand our work. We extend our blessings to his family and friends in this moment of sadness.
Thank you for all you’ve given this world Robin, thank you my friend.
